Dowagiac Chamber celebrates Brookie’s Cafe

DOWAGIAC — A downtown eatery was officially welcomed into the Dowagiac business community on Wednesday.

Chamber of Commerce representatives and business owners gathered at Brookie’s Cafe, 105 Beeson St., celebrating the occasion with a ribbon tying ceremony. The brunch cafe – which offers a variety of brunch options including skillets, omelettes, sandwiches, soups, paninis and more – is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday in the space formerly home to the Beeson Street Bar and Grill. .

Instead of a traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony, Chamber President Kris Soenen and the chamber used a ribbon tying ceremony to signify the businesses and the community coming together as one.

According to owner Jake Arnold, the cafe also has the space next door, which is used for overflow seating for the cafe as well as a space to host events. As the owner of Happy Jake’s and Arnie’s in Dowagiac, Wakey Jakes in Marcellus and now Brookie’s Cafe, Arnold enjoys sharing his passion for food with Cass County residents. Arnold will be opening his first Berrien County restaurant, Brookie’s Cafe St. Joe, 210 State St., St. Joseph, on Thursday, March 27.
