MWG Holdings Strengthens Commitment to Cannabis Justice Reform Through Partnership with Last Prisoner Project

MWG Holdings Group, Inc., a prominent cannabis company in California, has announced the continuation of its multi-year partnership with the Last Prisoner Project, a national nonprofit focused on cannabis criminal justice reform. This collaboration includes an in-store fundraising campaign at Perfect Union dispensaries throughout July, aiming to support individuals still incarcerated for cannabis offenses and to repair the harms of criminalization.

Angelica Sanchez, MWG Holdings’ VP of Government Affairs and Compliance, emphasized the company’s belief in rectifying the injustices of cannabis prohibition. The initiative invites customers to contribute to a cause that seeks to restore freedom and opportunity to those affected by past laws. Since 2020, MWG and the Last Prisoner Project have worked together to raise funds for legal support, policy reform advocacy, and reentry services for justice-impacted communities.

The Last Prisoner Project has made significant strides in its mission, redistributing over $3.5 million to those in need and providing legal counsel to more than 400 individuals. Their efforts in California, including sponsoring AB 1706 with Assemblymember Mia Bonta, have set a national precedent for retroactive cannabis relief. Philip Feng, Development Associate at the Last Prisoner Project, acknowledged the crucial role of partners like Perfect Union in advancing their cause.

Customers can participate in the fundraiser by donating at any Perfect Union dispensary or Wild Seed Wellness store until the end of July. MWG Holdings’ initiative reflects its broader commitment to community engagement and social responsibility, reinforcing its reputation as a leader in the cannabis industry’s push for equity and justice.
