NILES — A Niles resident celebrated a birthday milestone Monday.

Brentwood at Niles resident Jeanette Thornton celebrated her 101st birthday Monday with much fanfare. A Niles native, Thornton was still doing yard work and shoving snow at the age of 95. According to Thornton, her secret to living a long life is “to keep moving.”
