NILES — A popular family-owned restaurant celebrated more than three decades of serving the community Wednesday.
Prime Table, 1915 S. 11th St., Niles, celebrates its 32nd year of serving up cozy cuisine in its warm, inviting atmosphere to customers from Niles and beyond.
“I just can’t believe it’s been 32 years,” said co-owner Bill Giannakakis. “In some ways, time flies. You kind of grow together with everybody. I’m grateful to have this opportunity to do this. It provides for my family and we’re very grateful. It’s a big accomplishment and we’re very proud of it.”
Founded by Nick and Mary Giannakakis in 1993, customers have flocked to Prime Table to eat from a menu filled with breakfast, lunch and dinner choices, including steaks and chops, sandwiches, freshly made soups, salads and desserts. Customers can also get a taste of the owner’s Greek heritage in menu items like the Gyro and Greek style chicken and pork chops.
Mary and Nick moved from Greece to America in the late 1960s, when Nick started working in the restaurant industry. Today, son Bill helps to run the day to day operations of the popular dining establishment.
“It’s an honor,” Bill said. “I started here as a teenager with my mom and dad. We’re a good family business and we’re just honored and grateful. We have quite a few staff members who have been here for more than 20 years. It’s a big thank you to them for their service to the community along with us.”
Nick passed away in August 2024, leaving behind a legacy of joy, community involvement and wholehearted commitment to his work and family that continues today.
“I believe our focus on customer service and working together with our employees all these years – hand in hand – have allowed us to have success,” Bill said. “We’re fortunate to have quality employees here and a wonderful community that has supported us for over three decades.”
