DOWAGIAC — Southwestern Michigan College Wrestling followed up its three-peat as Michigan Community College Athletic Association champions by taking down nationally-ranked #11 Triton College of River Grove, Ill., and eight other Midwest teams in Palatine, Ill., Feb. 23 to claim the 2025 Great Lakes District Championship.
The Roadrunners finished with a team score of 153.5 to Triton’s 139.0. Host Harper College had 108.0 and Muskegon scored 105.0.
SMC Head Coach Todd Hesson won Great Lakes District Wrestling Coach of the Year.
All 10 Roadrunners wrestlers finished in the top three of their weight classes and now will prepare for the NJCAA National Championships in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on March 7.
