DOWAGIAC — Santa Claus is returning to the Grand Old City.

The beloved Candlelight Christmas Parade, proudly presented by the Dowagiac Chamber of Commerce and the City of Dowagiac, will light up downtown at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5 along Front Street.

In anticipation of the grand procession, South Front Street will close to through traffic at 4 p.m. The parade steps off at Front and Main streets, heads north on Front Street, and then circles the downtown district.

Crowds are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets and to line the sidewalks and enjoy the spectacle as more than 100 parade entries roll through downtown, rain or shine.

“This is truly one of our community’s most exciting and heartwarming events,” said Matt Money, Event Coordinator for the Chamber. “Families come from across the region to experience the lights, music, and magic of the season. It’s a tradition that brings our whole community together.”

Santa will close the parade in grand style, with True Towing pulling his sleigh down Front Street. Sponsors for the event include Alliance Cloud Services, Beacon Dowagiac Hospital, and Who Knew? Consignment.
